“I knew Jamie Lee’s activist Mother Alice Hamilton who championed Indian issues. Jamie Lee is a fighter like her late Mother and her strong independent voice is needed on Park Board. She has my full support. I endorse her candidacy” -Chief Bill Wilson

“I met Jamie-Lee in the mid-1990s as sex worker support organizations, family members and friends were coming to realize that the state sanctioned displacement of people involved in street-level sex work to isolated industrial areas was leading to their disappearances and deaths. In 1998, outraged and frustrated by the lack of response to this by our leadership, Jamie-Lee placed 67 pairs of stiletto heels on the lawn of city hall. I knew then that she was formidable. Jamie-Lee works to reconcile injustices; she is passionate about her community and as you can see from her body of work, she is dedicated to keeping Vancouver beautiful and safe for all of its citizens. Congratulations on your decision to run for public office!  –Raven Bowen

“I enthusiastically endorse Jamie Lee Hamilton’s bid for election to Vancouver’s Park Board in November. I have known Jamie Lee for almost 20 years, and attest to her unwavering commitments to social justice. She is a long-time anti-poverty activist, an Aboriginal community organizer, and co-founder (with me) of the West End Sex Work Memorial Project. I respect Jamie Lee’s vision for ‘public parks’, her tireless advocacy for marginalized folks, and her passionate desire to shape new initiatives for Park Board, in consultation with multiple stakeholders in communities. Jamie Lee’s indefatigable energy, decades of experience, and expertise gained through leadership around many tables, make her an excellent candidate for Park Board.” –Becki Ross

“I am honored to be able to give my endorsement to Jamie Lee Hamilton on her bid to run for Parks Board. In the 15 plus years I have known her, she has done nothing but prove herself time and time again in her efforts to provide, and fight for the rights of those individuals in which she shares the same beliefs. In my experience, it has been as a tireless activist and advocate for sexual rights, that of sex work, and of sex workers. She it truthful, trustworthy, and above a beautiful humanitarian that I look forward to supporting, and to have the pleasure of working with again and again. All the best on your decision to run!” -Velvet Steele

“No Whales In Captivity is pleased to endorse Jamie Lee Hamilton as acandidate running for Park Board in Vancouver’s upcoming municipal elections because throughout the last two decades, Jamie Lee has proven to be a true friend of the whales. We have always been able to count on Jamie Lee’s full support for our campaigns to end whale captivity at the Vancouver Aquarium. She has participated in numerous Park Board meetings speaking forcefully against the Aquarium’s plans to continue importing performing dolphins. Jamie Lee also participates in our protests held outside the Vancouver Aquarium, happy to hold up a banner or placard denouncing the cruelty of captivity. We look forward to working with Jamie Lee once she becomes a Park Board candidate so we can finally put an end to the commercial trade in whales and dolphins in Stanley Park.”

“In a poem I wrote “Jamie Lee Hamilton can drum fire.” But you don’t have to be a poet or use a metaphor to understand the passion Jamie Lee brings to her communities and to the City of Vancouver. It takes courage to ask tough questions about injustices in our city. It takes keen intellect and experience to know which questions are the right ones to ask, and which statements are the right ones to voice in order to create positive change. And it takes true passion to continue to question, speak and lead for as long as Jamie Lee has. She has my endorsement. – Amber Dawn”

“I would like to join others in enthusiastically endorsing Jamie Lee Hamilton for election to the Vancouver Parks Board. Jamie Lee understands the needs of the city because she has been a long-term, passionately engaged member of our community. And the Parks Board is her particular passion, because she recognizes its mandate to create safe, inclusive spaces that welcome everyone. Throughout her adult life, Jamie Lee has been a powerful advocate for marginalized groups—a fierce social justice warrior, drawing a depth of understanding from own lived experiences. She also brings to her candidacy additional diversity as a businessperson, educator, and writer. She is open and honest—a refreshing characteristic in politics. You will always know where she stands on any issue (check out her Oldtown News blog). But while she is fearless in debate and sometimes provocative in action, she also has a tremendous ability to reach across divisions to seek broader understanding of pressing issues; she knows that there are many stakeholders in discussions about creating a successful community. Jamie Lee Hamilton is a caring and courageous human being. We need her (and more people like her) in public office.  Willeen Keough, Associate Professor, Simon Fraser University

“I met Jamie Lee in the early 1990’s when I was a City Councillor.  We often spoke about Downtown Eastside issues. I admired her caring attitude for the less fortunate in society. When I became Mayor in 1993 Jamie Lee became an adviser to me on Downtown Eastside issues. I value her public service on behalf of all citizens in this City. Jamie Lee  doesn’t  care if you are rich or poor, she will sit down and talk with anyone. She really has this great  ability to bring diverse communities together.  “
It is with pleasure that I endorse her run for 2014 Park Board Commissioner . She has my full support.
